Man gunned down on street in St. Claude

A 29-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday evening in the St. Claude neighborhood, New Orleans police said.

The shooting was reported a little before 6 p.m.

Officers found the man’s body lying on Urquhart Street near Bartholomew Street. He died at the scene.

His identity was withheld pending notification of family.

Gunfire wounds two on West Bank street

Two men were shot but not seriously injured Tuesday evening on the West Bank, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

The shooting was reported a little before 6:30 p.m. at an unknown location on Lochlomand Drive in Harvey, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Police seek man in theft of coin machines

Police are searching for a man suspected of stealing coin machines in New Orleans East.

Police allege Keenan Blatcher, 38, and another man, whose identity is unknown, walked into the Peace Lake Tower apartments in the 9000 block of Chef Menteur Highway a little before noon Sept. 12 while posing as employees of the company that owns the machines.

Once inside the building, they put a coin machine on a hand truck and walked out with it, police said.

Blatcher, who was a former employee of the company, never returned his uniform, which he wore during the incident, police said.

He and the unknown man are suspected of striking again on Sept. 16.

About 4 a.m. that day, a security guard at the Village de Jardin apartment complex in the 8800 block of Lake Forest Boulevard was making his rounds when he found the coin machine in the lobby missing.

Blatcher and the man were seen in surveillance video taking the machine, police said.

His unknown accomplice is described as a black man with a dark brown complexion, thin to medium build, 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5, 160 to 170 pounds, and having a short fade haircut.

Suspect in Slidell gas station robbery arrested

A man suspected of robbing the same Slidell gas station twice in recent days is behind bars.

Douglas Casborn, 54, knocked off the Circle K on Front Street on Thursday and again on Sunday, Slidell police said.

In both instances, he allegedly implied he had a gun and then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A St. Tammany Parish deputy who heard a description of Casborn’s vehicle spotted his Mazda pickup truck near Bayou Liberty and Front Street, said Detective Daniel Seuzeneau. The deputy tried to pull over Casborn, who sped away.

He was arrested after a brief chase that ended near the Kings Point subdivision.

Casborn confessed to robbing the store to feed a drug addiction, Seuzeneau said.

He was booked on two counts of first-degree robbery, aggravated flight from an officer, possession of a Schedule II narcotic and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police seek woman in 7th Ward shooting

New Orleans police are searching for a suspect in a recent 7th Ward shooting.

Police suspect Elnora LaSalle, 32, shot a 26-year-old woman about 4 a.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of North Villere Street.

The victim was hit in the shoulder and back.

LaSalle’s last known address was in the 200 block of Emerson Place in Kenner.

JPSO searches for man in auto burglary case

Jefferson Parish authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with a vehicle burglary.

The unknown man opened the door of an unlocked car early Sept. 17 in the 800 block of Orion Avenue in Metairie and stole a wallet from the center console, said Col. John Fortunato, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

About 3 a.m., an unknown man used a credit card that was in the wallet at the Walgreens store at Veterans and Bonnabel boulevards.

The Sheriff’s Office released an image of the man recorded on the store’s surveillance camera.

Police seek two in dollar-store shoplifting

New Orleans police are trying to identify two men wanted in connection with a shoplifting at a Mid-City business.

The men walked into the Dollar General store at 230 N. Broad St. about 2:30 p.m. Sept. 28 and took detergent and Saints T-shirts without paying, police said.

Police released images of the men captured on the store’s security cameras.
