New Orleans police reported five armed robberies in 12 hours between Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning, according to a preliminary crime report.

The first incident happened just before 4:20 p.m. in the 7000 block of Crowder Boulevard in New Orleans East, when two women and a man were held up at gunpoint, police said.

According to the report, the first victim, a 20-year-old woman, was approached first by the armed man, who tried to rob her but failed. He then approached the other victims, a 19-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, and demanded their belongings.

The robber took off with a woman’s purse before fleeing the scene. Police said they found the suspect’s baseball cap and gun after the incident.

The next incident also happened Saturday afternoon, when a Stein Mart on Tchoupitoulas Street was robbed at gunpoint.

According to a police report, a man entered the store in the 5300 block of Tchoupitoulas Street at about 5 p.m. and took several items. A security guard at the store tried to stop the robber, who then pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the guard and fled the store.

Then, early Sunday, an Uber driver was carjacked at gunpoint at North Tonti and Louisa streets, New Orleans police said.

The driver, a 39-year-old woman, was at the intersection around 1:53 a.m. when a Chevy Equinox blocked her, the New Orleans Police Department said in a preliminary offense log. The driver of the Equinox, wearing a black scarf over his face, allegedly produced a semi-automatic firearm and demanded she exit the vehicle.

A second suspect then demanded the victim’s phone, police said. The first suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle, and the second suspect fled in the Equinox.

Another robbery happened just before 2:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Rampart Street downtown when four men were approached by three armed subjects who were possibly teenagers, police said.

According to a preliminary report, the victims, who ranged in age from 31 to 45, were walking down the block when they were approached by the trio, all of whom were armed and wearing hooded sweatshirts.

The three took the victims’ phones and money before fleeing.

Finally, a 38-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint outside of a Walgreens in the 6200 block of Elysian Fields after he used the ATM inside the store, police said.

The man had just gotten his cash and was in the parking lot about 3:45 p.m. when he was approached by three men wearing clothes and ski masks over their faces, according to the NOPD.

Two of the men had guns. After they took the victim’s money, they entered a black Jeep with tinted windows and fled, a report said.
