A 28-year-old woman died in a Central City fire on Saturday, according to the New Orleans Fire Department.

The fire was occurred in the 2400 block of South Saratoga Street around 9:30 a.m. NOFD said the victim's boyfriend escaped by jumping out a second-story window, but his girlfriend was scared to follow him.

Firefighters found the victim uresponsive outside of an upstairs bedroom. She was given CPR and taken to an area hospital where she died.

A 7-year-old niece was also in the home but was able to escape.

NOFD said it was unable to find smoke detectors in the home.
