The Louisiana Bridge Association raised more than $18,000 for Alzheimer’s disease research during its Longest Day event June 21, making it the eighth-highest fundraising bridge club in the nation for 2015’s The Longest Day. The event took place at the LBA bridge center, 2709 Edenborn Ave., Metairie.
The Longest Day is a daylong game of bridge held by the Alzheimer’s Association and its global partner, the American Contract Bridge League.
ACBL expects to bring in more than $600,000 in total donations from the 197 participating bridge clubs across 44 states and Canada.
Aces Against Alzheimer’s team captain Sherrie Goodman, who lost a loved one to Alzheimer’s disease, set a goal to raise $1,600 on The Longest Day. Far surpassing that goal, the team raised more than $18,000 for the cause.
