Writers hear author discuss inspiration for ‘Doll-Baby’ _lowres

Laura Lane McNeal was the guest speaker at the May 21 meeting of the Southern Louisiana chapter of the Romance Writers of America. McNeal’s novel “Doll-Baby” is set in New Orleans during the civil rights era.

At the meeting, she discussed how the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina inspired her approach to writing about the city and its citizens.

The romance writers’ group meets at 10 a.m. on the third Saturday of every month at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie.
