A 14-year-old Boyet Junior High School student was booked on a felony count of battery on a teacher after he shoved a school employee to the ground, a St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office spokesman said Wednesday.

The incident caused school personnel to call the Sheriff’s Office, and deputies located the male student near Gause Boulevard and North Pearl Drive, a few blocks from the school, according to Capt. George Bonnett.

The student was booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center, Bonnett said.

The teacher, a 67-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Boyet Junior High, near Slidell, has seventh and eighth grades.
