Rain or shine, French Quarter Festival officials plan to go forward with this weekend’s overwhelmingly outdoor, four-day festival of music, food, film and culture without changes. Festival officials, however, will continue to monitor weather conditions.
For Friday, the National Weather Service is predicting rain and thunderstorms, mainly after 10 a.m. Chances of precipitation are 80 percent. Friday night there’s a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Saturday, showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly after 1 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Saturday night the chance of showers and thunderstorms drops to 50 percent.
Sunday also brings a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, dropping to 30 percent Sunday night.
In its 32nd year, the free-of-charge French Quarter Festival is presenting 300 musical acts, featuring 1,700 musicians, performing on 23 stages throughout the Quarter.
