Max Daigh, manager of school performance for the Louisiana Department of Education, was the guest speaker when Louisiana Connections Academy held a commencement ceremony for 93 graduates of its third senior class on May 30.
Valedictorian was Christian Carroll, of Jena, and salutatorian was Kristine Slawson, of Baton Rouge.
Louisiana Connections Academy is the state’s first free virtual K-12 charter school, with 1,200 students enrolled in its online campus.
The graduation, at Baton Rouge’s Independence Park Theater, also celebrated more than $1.3 million in scholarship offers to graduates.
Graduates from the New Orleans area are: Brisa Alarcon-Caine, of LaPlace; Jessica Cawlfield and Brooke Watson, of Kenner; Nicholas Daquin, of Marrero; Deven Dupuy, Emily Fourcade, Tylar Seager and Katelyn Wild, of Metairie; Morgan Gruber, of Belle Chasse; Julian Hayes, Anissa Horhn and Christian Valteau, of New Orleans; Jenna Johnson, of Destrehan; Mariah McGowan, of Gretna; and Kristine Smith, of River Ridge.
