The Marine Corps Band has performances scheduled to raise support for the Toys for Tots program. Coming up is the 2014 Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Northshore Harbor Center, 100 Harbor Center Blvd. in Slidell; and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans. All concerts are free and the Marines will be accepting donations for the Toys for Tots Drive.

The 41st annual Tuba Christmas “Heavy Artillery” concert will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 at Washington Artillery Park. The Tuba and Euphonium Marines and the Enlisted Conductor of the Marine Corps Band New Orleans with support from community musicians will present this year’s Tuba Christmas. Toys for Tots will be present to collect donations of unwrapped toys.

Players of all ages are welcomed to perform with Tuba Christmas. Registration and rehearsals are conducted the day of the concert at the Loyola music department building. Registration is at 9 a.m. and rehearsals begin at 10 a.m. Cost is $10 per musician. Books are available for $20, normal print; and $25 large print. Those who belong to a high school, college or community or service band are asked to wear their uniforms.
