Man arrested in December murder
New Orleans police and U.S. marshals arrested a man Wednesday in connection with a December murder.
Quintin Hankton, 25, allegedly shot and killed Maurice Sparkman, 28, about 4 p.m. Dec. 3 at the top of a stairwell in an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Dryades Street, according to police.
Hankton was arrested in the 10100 block of Curran Boulevard in New Orleans East, according to NOPD spokesman Officer Frank Robertson. He was booked on a count of first-degree murder.
Police book man in attempted murder
A man was arrested and booked on a count of attempted second-degree murder Tuesday.
A driver saw a woman bleeding inside her car in the 2600 block of North Villere Street in the St. Roch neighborhood about noon.
This driver flagged down police, whose search of the area resulted in Milton Jones, 39, turning himself in, according to police.
Authorities search for suspect in wallet theft
New Orleans police are looking for a man who stole a woman’s wallet and earrings.
The victim, 51, told police that the theft took place at the Upper Quarter Bar in the 1000 block of Bienville Street.
Police didn’t specify when the incident occurred, but they said they discovered surveillance video of the man using the woman’s stolen credit card at a Walgreens in New Orleans and a gas station in LaPlace.

Police look for two in auto burglary
New Orleans police are trying to find two men who stole construction tools from a truck last weekend.
About 4:20 a.m. Saturday, two men forced open the door of a truck in the 1200 block of Bayou Road, according to police. They stole construction tools and fled.

Man found dead on railroad tracks
About 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, the body of an unidentified man was discovered on the railroad tracks near Leake Avenue and Monroe Street, according to NOPD spokesman Officer Frank Robertson.
Detectives think he was hit by a train early that morning. He died at the scene.
Man, 29, sought in home burglary, attack
Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 29-year-old man who allegedly burglarized a home in New Orleans East.
About 3 p.m. Tuesday, Esson Wix entered a home in the 7700 block of Hansbrough Avenue through an unlocked door, according to police. He grabbed the 29-year-old victim’s purse, but she saw him and screamed, police said.
Wix then allegedly grabbed her around her throat, threw her to the floor, dropped the purse and fled.
Woman says former friend robber her
A woman, 23, said she was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday in New Orleans East.
She told police that a former friend of hers came to her home in the 6800 block of Parc Brittany Boulevard about 5:30 p.m. After a verbal and physical altercation, she said, he pulled a gun and pointed it at her and her baby.
He demanded money and got about $250 before fleeing.
Man accused of gun, drug possession
New Orleans police arrested a man and booked him on counts of possessing a stolen gun and possession of drugs.
Just after midnight Wednesday morning, two plainclothes officers saw and smelled James Kinard, 21, smoking what they thought to be a marijuana cigar at Bienville and Royal streets, according to police.
After Kinard was arrested, he allegedly told the detectives he had a loaded .22-caliber pistol in his backpack.
The gun had been reported stolen in Jefferson Parish in February 2012, according to police.
Woman arrested in Harvey shooting death
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest Wednesday of a woman in connection with knowledge she allegedly has of a June killing.
U.S. marshals arrested Markeisha Lewis, 24, of Harvey, in connection with the shooting death of Demone Robinson, 34, who was killed June 27 in the 1000 block of Inca Drive in Harvey.
During questioning, Lewis allegedly confessed to being in the company of Chammpel LeVangie and Raynell Whittaker immediately following the shooting of Robinson. She was then booked on a count of being an accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.
Warrants were also issued for the arrest of LeVangie, 17, of New Orleans, and Whittaker, 17, of Harvey, on the same charge. They remain at large.

5 juveniles arrested in N.O. East burglaries
New Orleans police arrested five juveniles in connection with three New Orleans East burglaries this week.
On Monday, officers arrested two 15-year-old boys and one 14-year-old for two separate residential burglaries, which both occurred that day. The burglaries happened in the 7300 block of Spring Lake Drive and the 7100 block of Benson Court, according to police.
On Wednesday, a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old boy were arrested in connection with a burglary in the 7700 block of Unity Drive, according to police.
All five were booked on counts of residential burglary and criminal damage to property. Two of the five also were booked on possession of stolen property.
