LSU University College presented its annual Celebration of Excellence spring awards program March 17 in Baton Rouge. The college awarded $80,000 through 65 undergraduate student scholarships, five LSU faculty teaching awards, two graduate teaching assistant awards, and one LSU Advisor of the Year Award. New Orleans-area recipients were:

  • From Destrehan, William Arseneaux, son of Matthew and Celeste Vice Arseneaux, a graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans majoring in mechanical engineering.
  • From Harahan, Nicholas Kennedy, son of Gerard and Gina Lee Kennedy, a graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School majoring in general business; and Morgan Thompson, daughter of Jeanne Angel Gauthreaux, a graduate of Ursuline Academy.
  • From Kenner, Jessica Dunn, daughter of Keith and Donna Jill Dunn, a graduate of Archbishop Chapelle High School majoring in kinesiology.
  • From LaPlace, Zachary Maurin, son of Brett and Erica Maurin, a graduate of St. Charles Catholic High School majoring in engineering.
  • From Metairie, Kelly Lewis, daughter of Mark Lewis and Joy Calongne, a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy majoring in civil engineering; Leonardo Martinez, son of Carlos Ruben and Marbel Rodriguez, a graduate of East Jefferson High School majoring in chemical engineering; Caroline Welker, daughter of Victor and Mary Welker, a gradute of Mount Carmel Academy majoring in textiles, apparel and merchandising; Victoria Monzon, daughter of Frank and Sheila Cabibi Monzon, a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy majoring in pre-nursing; Marli Baquet, daughter of Marshall and Joli Baquet, a graduate of St. Mary’s Dominican High School majoring in mass communication; Corinne Hebert, daughter of Jay and Kelly Hebert, a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy majoring in education; Reece Reinbolt, son of Guy and Stacey Reinbolt, a graduate of Holy Cross High School with an undecided major; and Alyssa Storey, daughter of Timothy and Courtney Elizabeth Storey, a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy majoring in kinesiology.
  • From New Orleans, Kayla Swanson, daughter of Gregory and Damita Theresa Swanson, a graduate of St. Mary’s Dominican High School majoring in mass communication; and Sydney Wentzell, daughter of Mario Wentzell and Suzanne Majoue, a graduate of St. Mary’s Dominican High School majoring in petroleum engineering.
