Bands of heavy, training rain pounded the New Orleans area on Tuesday, flooding roadways and dropping several inches of rain in some areas.

And more could be on the way.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for most of southeast Louisiana until 7 p.m.

Rainfall totals by early afternoon ranged from 3 inches in Slidell to 2.48 inches at New Orleans' Louis Armstrong International Airport to 2.57 inches at Lakefront airport.

WWL-TV meteorologist Alexandra Cranford said another 1-3 inches of rain could fall this afternoon and evening in isolated areas.
