Three juveniles robbed in park at gunpoint

Three juveniles were robbed at gunpoint Saturday evening in New Orleans East, police said.

A 14-year-old, a 12-year-old and a 5-year-old were sitting in a park in the 8500 block of the North I-10 Service Road about 5:30 p.m. when three armed male juveniles approached them.

One of the robbers demanded money from the 12-year-old girl and took her iPad. A second robber took the 14-year-old boy’s cellphone.

The robbers then fled toward an apartment complex.

Home invasion reported in St. Roch

A woman awoke Sunday morning to find a man armed with a handgun in her St. Roch neighborhood home, New Orleans police said.

The robber awakened the 39-year-old woman just before 5 a.m. in her house in the 2300 block of Urquhart Street. He pulled out a gun and demanded she go with him to an ATM machine. She complied after he hit her.

He fled after she got money from the ATM.

Man cut after misunderstanding

A man was cut Saturday night in Gentilly after his friend’s son apparently mistook playing for fighting.

About 10:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man was “playing around” with a female friend when the woman’s son got alarmed, police said. The pair were in their house in the 6000 block of Cameron Boulevard when the son assumed they were fighting and stabbed the man.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Shots fired at couple on Interstate 10

New Orleans police are investigating a shooting that happened on Interstate 10 about 11 p.m. Saturday.

A 41-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were traveling eastbound on I-10 at Gov. Nicholls Street when shots were fired at them, police said.

The pair said they didn’t know who did the shooting.

Late-night fight leads to cutting in Gentilly

A verbal fight turned into a cutting in Gentilly late Saturday night, police said.

A 53-year-old man was in the 5400 block of Pauline Drive about 11:30 p.m. when he began arguing with someone.

The situation escalated, and the man was cut.

Burglary, assault reported in 7th Ward

Police are investigating a burglary and sexual assault early Sunday morning in the 7th Ward.

Officers initially responded to a report of an aggravated burglary in the 1900 block of North Johnson Street just after midnight, police said. When they arrived, they learned that the female victim had been sexually assaulted.

Woman robbed at gunpoint in Quarter

A woman was robbed at gunpoint while walking in the French Quarter early Sunday morning.

The 28-year-old woman said she was in the 1100 block of Decatur Street shortly before 1 a.m. when a black SUV pulled up beside her.

A passenger with a gun got out of the car and demanded her purse. She complied.

Woman cuts man several times with knife

A 59-year-old man was arguing with a female friend in the 3300 block of Pleasure Street about 11:45 p.m. Saturday when she got a knife from the kitchen and cut the man several times.

He was treated at the scene.
