One person was killed in a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 westbound at the West End Boulevard exit, New Orleans police said.

Around 4:50 a.m. Sunday, a vehicle lost control and struck the guard rail. It bounced back in the lane of traffic and was struck by a second vehicle, the New Orleans Police Department said in a preliminary offense log.

A third vehicle then struck the second vehicle, which was in the right lane. The driver of the second car got out of his vehicle and was struck by the fourth vehicle, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the victim’s name.

One passenger was transported to University Medical Center and is in critical condition, police said in a news release.

No charges have been filed.
