A Harahan woman has been chosen as international president of the Grand Council of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

Stacy DeMartini Bruton pledged Alpha Delta Pi as an undergraduate at the University of Mississippi, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in history and political science. After graduating from Ole Miss, Bruton attended the Tulane University School of Law, where she received her juris doctorate.

The Grand Council serves Alpha Delta Pi much as a board of directors serves corporations, associations and other nonprofit organizations. The Grand Council is made up of seven alumnae who are elected by delegates at the sorority’s Grand Convention, which is held every two years.

Bruton has two daughters who are members of Alpha Delta Pi.
