Authorities in St. Charles Parish said a 34-year-old Destrehan man killed his live-in girlfriend and left her mother stabbed and critically wounded Wednesday morning.
Bruce Bourgeois Jr. is wanted in the death of his girlfriend in the 300 block of Madewood Drive in Destrehan, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Bourgeois allegedly stabbed his girlfriend multiple times, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange.
Bourgeois then called his girlfriend’s mother and asked her to come to his house and drive him to his probation officer. When she arrived, “he refused to allow her to see her daughter, and at that particular point, a struggle ensued and she was stabbed in the neck area,” LaGrange said.
The woman was able to escape to a neighbor’s home, LaGrange said. She was unable to speak, so she wrote on a piece of paper that Bourgeois had stabbed her. She asked the neighbor to call 911.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene just after 9 a.m. and found the girlfriend’s dead body in the bathroom. Bourgeois had already fled.
The mother was transported to a local hospital, where she was undergoing surgery and was listed in critical condition, LaGrange said.
He declined to identify the victim or her mother, noting that family members were still being notified Wednesday.
Bourgeois is believed to be driving a gray Toyota Scion XD with Louisiana license plate VTE 461. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office at (985) 783-6807.
