American Midstream Partners LP has signed a deal with a refinery customer to lease 650,000 barrels of storage space at the Harvey terminal.

American Midstream expects total storage capacity at Harvey to increase to roughly 1.1 million barrels in 2016. The company did not release the name of the customer.

American Midstream will lease 100,000 barrels of existing space and 550,000 barrels of storage now under construction. About 450,000 barrels of capacity will be available by midyear, and the remainder by late 2016.

The Harvey terminal sits on 56 acres on the west bank of the Mississippi River in the Port of New Orleans. The facilities include 3,000 feet of rail, which can handle 50 rail cars, a truck loading facility and a deepwater ship dock.

When fully developed, the terminal will be able to provide up to 2 million barrels of storage capacity.

American Midstream’s terminal operations consist of about 1.8 million barrels of storage capacity at terminals in Westwego and Harvey, and Brunswick, Georgia. The facilities can store petroleum, chemical and agricultural products. Blackwater Midstream, a subsidiary, manages the terminals.
