The AST Marketing Group, a Baton Rouge-based company that makes promotional material for local and national brands, is expanding through a packing and distribution center in suburban Chicago.

Carey J. Guglielmo Jr. , president and owner of AST Marketing, said the 110,000-square-foot facility will be the company’s fulfillment center for merchandise ordered through its web store. It joins an existing facility in Metairie.

“This allows us to extend out to a regional and national customer base,” Guglielmo said.

AST puts logos from companies such as Community Coffee, Tabasco, All Star Automotive Group and Walk-On’s, on merchandise including polo shirts, golf balls, caps, coolers and sunglasses.

Over the past two years, AST has seen its revenue grow by 316 percent. Guglielmo said the investment in the new distribution center is a move to keep the company on that growth trajectory.

Guglielmo had 20 years of experience as a Nike sales representative before starting AST. He co-founded the business with Billy Halle, who has 25 years of sales experience with Nike.

“We’re not a mom-and-pop business, but a lot of our competitors are,” Guglielmo said. “We bring a strategic vision to the merchandise base.”
