Five finalists have been selected to compete for a Startup St. Bernard prize package valued at at more than $100,000 in cash and in-kind services.

The business pitch competition’s organizers are the Meraux Foundation and St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation. The event is being held in conjunction with New Orleans Entrepreneur Week in March.

Finalists are:

CLEAN COURSE MEALS: A health and nutrition company providing access to nourishing meals, while educating the community on living a healthier lifestyle.

NEUTRAL GROUND: A digital wood shop that specializes in using rapid prototyping technology to make affordable custom fabrication and partners with other businesses on product, packaging and signage needs.

FULL COUNT ATHLETIC FACILITY: A 10,000-square-foot training facility for teaching and practicing baseball and softball skills, with equipment for speed and agility and strength and conditioning training and specialized group coaching clinics, team skills training and one-on-one skills training.

NEPTUNE'S GARDEN: A year-round hydroponic farm providing fresh produce for purchase. 

PONTCHARTRAIN MUSHROOMS: An urban farm that grows gourmet and medicinal mushrooms.

The finalists will pitch their businesses to a panel of judges from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on March 19 at the Arlene Meraux River Observation Center at Docville Farm, 5128 E. St. Bernard Highway, in Violet.

Startup St. Bernard was open to any business that agreed to locate their base of operations in St. Bernard Parish. They were selected on criteria that included the quality of their business plan and impact on St. Bernard Parish.
