Farm-to-table event registration starts
Registration is underway for the Farm to Table Experience scheduled Aug. 18-20 at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
The event explores best practices for locally sourced food and drinks in the farm-to-table movement and includes hands-on cooking and gardening demonstrations.
Other topics include best practices for urban farming, bringing products to market, sourcing locally and sustainability.
Panelists will discuss farming and home gardening; brewing, distilling, vinting, plus nonalcoholic beverages; farm-to-school; and food innovation and trends.
Black chamber event schedules 30 speakers
Thirty speakers are slated to discuss savvy and innovative business practices at the National Black Chamber of Commerce’s 24th annual Entrepreneurial Convention being held July 20-23 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside hotel.
A veterans job fair will kick off the event July 20 at the Port of New Orleans. The event is free for veterans and employers seeking to employ veterans.
More than 300 business and chamber professionals, national entertainers and governmental representatives are expected to participate in professional development workshops during the conference.
Speakers include Deborah Elam, chief diversity officer of GE; Gary LaGrange, president and CEO of the Port of New Orleans; Barbara Wojcik-Betancourt, senior economist of the U.S. Department of Agriculture; Terrez Thompson, vice president of global supplier diversity of The Coca-Cola Co.; Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes, athletic director for Dillard University; and Dave Sanford, deputy executive director for Florida’s Port Manatee.

ERisk licenses marketing rights
ERisk Consulting LLC in Baton Rouge has licensed the marketing rights to its Enterface mobile app to Core Associates LLC to help eRisk enter construction and real estate markets worldwide.
Officials said the agreement will bolster Core Associates’ document management and accounts payable workflow solutions. Core has exclusive marketing rights into the Sage 100 and 300 construction and real estate markets, reaching nearly 25,000 customers worldwide. Core plans to market the product under its namesake Timberscan as Timberscan eForms.
The initial product launch has been underway in Australia and New Zealand, with the United States and Canada following this month.
“We were looking for the most efficient way to enter the (construction and real estate) market, and Core Associates offered us valuable name recognition and market awareness,” said Chris Jordan, president of eRisk. “In addition, Core Associates has a sterling relationship with the vast Sage dealership channel, which reaches around the globe. LSU MBA alumni jazz, cocktail event planned
The LSU Flores MBA Alumni Association will hold a Jazz & Cocktails event from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 28 in the E.J. Ourso College of Business Education Complex Rotunda.
The event features hors d’oeuvres and cocktails and the Sun Room Jazz Band and is free to Flores MBA alumni and their guests.

Insurer adds second New Orleans office
BancorpSouth Insurance Services has added a second New Orleans-area location with Eustis Risk Management Resources in Metairie.
Edward B. Scheinuk, who served as president of Eustis Risk, and his team have joined BancorpSouth Insurance Services, 321 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Suite 200.
BancorpSouth Insurance Services President Markham McKnight said the expansion is part of the agency’s long-term growth plan in Louisiana and diversifies the agency and its parent company, BancorpSouth Bank.
Scheinuk has 35 years of insurance industry experience. He provides risk management and insurance advice to regional, national and international commercial accounts. Additionally, he provides litigation support and expert witness services as well as ad hoc advisory services to fee-based clients.
Waitr app expands to Walker, Denham
Waitr, an app for restaurant menu orders, with carryout and delivery, is expanding to parts of Denham Springs and Walker.
Waitr has been operating in the Baton Rouge area since January, partnering with area restaurants such as Walk-Ons, A Little Pizza Joint, Po-Boy Express, Mama B’s, La Carreta and others.
Waitr was founded in Lake Charles. Its downloadable app is in the App Store and Google Play Store.
Home Bank opens relocated branch
Home Bank has opened a branch at 1001 Johnston St. in Lafayette in a relocation of its downtown office from Jefferson Street.
The renovated building offers expanded space for bank employees and better customer access, officials said.
The banking center manager is Angela Stewart, with a staff that includes a mortgage loan officer and Treasury management officer.
