New Orleans' Louis Armstrong International Airport has announced it's adding additional non-stop flights to and from Las Vegas.

The airport said in a tweet Wednesday morning that Spirit Airlines will add Vegas flights beginning Nov. 13.

According to the airport's website, Southwest Airlines operates two daily flights between the two cities.

Based in Miramar, Fla., low-cost Spirit already offers flights between New Orleans and Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Houston and Detroit.

The airport has picked up a number of new flights from low-cost airlines over the past year or so, with announcements from Spirit, Alaska Airlines and PeoplExpress.

As the city prepares for construction of a new terminal, airport officials are gunning for more traffic, especially from international carriers.
