The owners of Magasin, the popular Vietnamese restaurant on Magazine Street, are opening a new restaurant in the South Market District mixed-use development.
Magasin Kitchen will be in The Paramount apartment building at 611 O’Keefe Ave. The restaurant, set to open in early 2015, will have an exposed kitchen and feature dishes such as pork belly banh mi with quail egg, green bean avocado fried rice and shrimp balls.
“Magasin Kitchen’s concept goes beyond just fresh, healthy food — we’re introducing a sustainable restaurant that features local and seasonal produce, and embraces green design and practices,” said Kim Nguyen, who owns the restaurant.
The South Market District is a $200 million mixed-use development that will take up four blocks in downtown New Orleans being developed by The Domain Companies. Pre-leasing recently started on the first phase, The Paramount, a $48.4 million building that will include 209 apartments and 22,000 square feet of retail space. The Paramount is set to open in November. Units will rent for between $1,460 for a one-bedroom apartment and $2,100 for a two-bedroom.
