Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Inc., with more than 2,600 restaurants, is being acquired for $1.8 billion by the parent company of Burger King and Tim Hortons.

King Popeyes? Not really, but the Louisiana fried chicken chain could soon be under the umbrella of the owner of Burger King and Tim Hortons, according to a report. 

Restaurant Brands International, the owner of the two popular chains, has approached Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen about a possible acquisition, according to Reuters

No price has been established for the Atlanta-based chain, according to the report, and there was no guarantee negotiations would take place. 

Popeyes, with more than 2,000 restaurants operating globally, saw a bump in afternoon trading, according to the report.
