This weekend, Entergy New Orleans crews are expected to continue working on the second phase of the utility’s $30 million upgrade of its power transmission system, which will involve interstate crossings.

This latest phase of work impacts the Carrollton and Hollygrove neighborhoods, including Cambronne Street, and areas near Xavier University.

Weather permitting, work crossing Interstate 10 will take place Dec. 12 and Dec. 13 near Kentwood Bottling Company crossing the Pontchartrain Expressway/I-10. Entergy New Orleans will conduct its remaining interstate crossing work in January, with the entire second phase being finished by March.

The work will take place at South Galvez Street located near the Kentwood Bottling Company, said Toni Green-Brown, public affairs manager for Entergy New Orleans. During brief, intermittent closures, police will stop traffic on Pontchartrain Expressway/I-10 in both directions.

Multiple crews will work simultaneously using large equipment. Several stages of work will be done during each segment, and each stage of work will have different impacts.

This transmission project is a $30 million capital investment in the electric transmission infrastructure as Entergy prepares to deactivate its aging Michoud generating facility.

The final I-10 crossing work will occur along Lafayette Street in January. Customers may voice specific questions and concerns through a hot line at (504) 670-3624 or by emailing powertogrownola@entergy.com.
