Canseco’s Market is opening a fourth area location, with a 11,600-square-foot store at 6735 St. Claude Ave. in Arabi starting Tuesday.

Owner and operator Sinesio Canseco, who started working at Winn-Dixie at age 16 and became store manager for over a decade, opened his first store on Metairie Road.

The Canseco’s chain employs over 150 individuals, including 40 at the new location. The full-service grocery store is known for its deli selections, grab-and-go meals, and specialty Cuban sandwiches and meat pies.

Sinesio decision to open the Arabi store was a personal one. “It has always been my dream to open a grocery store where I live," he said.

The store is in the Old Arabi Cultural Arts District, anchoring The Front, a mixed-use redevelopment and shopping center on the St. Claude corridor.

The store will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.
