NAPOLEONVILLE — Deputies arrested a Donaldsonville woman after she tried to bribe a correctional officer into to letting her visit an inmate, Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack said.
Latisha Haynes, 37, offered money to the officer in exchange for letting her into the Detention Center to visit an inmate, said Robert Martin, Sheriff’s Office spokesman. When Haynes was taken into custody, deputies discovered she had marijuana-laced cigarettes, a cellphone and a phone charger, which she intended on bringing into the jail, Martin said.
Haynes, 308 W. Second St., Donaldsonville, was booked into the detention center on counts of bringing contraband into a penal institution, public bribery and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. Haynes was released after she posted bail of $50,000.
