ST. AMANT — A bridge over New River Canal at Roundtree Road has been condemned by state officials prompting the installation of a temporary road for access to residences at that location, Ascension Parish officials said Friday.
Roundtree Road runs north of La. 22 at the intersection of La. 22 and La. East 936, parish government spokesman Lester Kenyon said.
The bridge crossing is approximately 800 feet north of La. 22 on Roundtree Road, Kenyon said.
The temporary access road is located between Roundtree Road and Marantha Acres Street off La. 22, and runs north to access those residences north and east of the New River Canal, Kenyon said.
Parish public works officials estimate the bridge replacement will take about seven to eight months, Kenyon said.
