THIBODAUX - Barbara Pierce Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, will deliver the keynote address during closing ceremonies Wednesday of Nicholls State University’s Louisiana Girls Leadership Academy.

Bush, a member of UNICEF’s Next Generation steering committee, also is CEO and co-founder of Global Health Corps, serves on the board of directors for Covenant House International and is a Draper Richards Foundation Social Entrepreneur.

She graduated from Yale University in 2004 with a degree in humanities.

Refreshments will be served at 2:30 p.m. in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union, followed by service project presentations at 3:30 p.m. and the keynote address at 4:30 p.m..

Louisiana Girls Leadership Academy is a program designed for potential leaders in community and public service. Girls entering eighth through 11th grades in the 2011-12 school year were competitively selected for the academy.
