‘Stuff the Bus’ drive set
The annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply campaign is set for Wednesday in the parking lots of Office Depot and Raising Cane’s in Gonzales, organizers said.
Partnering once again with the Ascension Parish School Board, Volunteer Ascension kicks off its 14th annual School Tools Program with the “Stuff the Bus” drive, said Sherry Denig, Volunteer Ascension executive director.
This is the third year Volunteer Ascension takes part in the WBRZ Stuff the Bus campaign, she said.
“Last year, the Ascension Parish team collected an amazing 69,782 school supplies in the one-day event,” Denig said. “I have to admit, the friendly competition between EBR and Ascension has really stepped up our collection totals. Let’s just say our team is pretty competitive. In Ascension, we love a challenge, and it’s officially on. Plus it’s all for a great cause, our kids.”
School supplies can be dropped off at the Office Depot or Cane’s in Gonzales now through Wednesday. All clubs, organizations, businesses, families and individuals are encouraged to be a part of this parishwide school supply collection.
All supplies collected during “Stuff the Bus” will be added to Volunteer Ascension’s School Tools collection, which will take place from 8 a.m. until noon on July 30 in front of Walmart stores in Prairieville, Gonzales and Donaldsonville, and Office Depot in Gonzales.
