A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old runaway last fall and was sentenced Monday to five years in state prison.

Prosecutors in Ascension Parish said sheriff’s deputies pulled over Noel Williams Jr.’s car after the young girl was reported on Oct. 27 as having left a Donaldsonville home in a dark colored, four-door sedan. The girl was found in Williams’ car.

Sheriff’s investigators later learned that Williams, 1411 W. Sidney St., Gonzales, had sex with the girl a little while before Ascension deputies pulled him over, prosecutors with the 23rd Judicial District said in a statement.

At the time of the sexual encounter, Williams was 25, prosecutors said.

Williams, who had been set for trial Tuesday, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of carnal knowledge of juvenile.

In addition to the five-year prison sentence, Judge Jason Verdigets of the 23rd Judicial District Court required that Williams continue to register as a sex offender for 15 years after his release from prison.
