Gonzales police: Prairieville woman arrested on negligent homicide in February crash that killed a man _lowres

A Prairieville woman involved in a car crash in February that killed one person was arrested Friday on a count of negligent homicide following an investigation by Gonzales police.

The police investigation found that Lucero Dominquez, 28, was speeding in her 2001 GMC Yukon and ran a red light at North Airline Highway and East Ascension Street on Feb. 15 when she struck the side of a 2013 Nissan Altima, according to a Police Department report.

The driver of the Altima, Joey McClendon, and three passengers with him were taken to a hospital. On Feb. 28, McClendon died from his injuries, according to the report.

Dominquez, of 15492 Palmetto Lane, Prairieville, was booked into Ascension Parish Jail on a count of negligent homicide, three counts of negligent injuring, one count of speeding and one count of running a red light, according to the report.

On Monday, bail had not yet been set for Dominquez on the negligent homicide and negligent injuring counts.
