The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a 25-year-old man accused in a fatal stabbing in a mobile home just outside of Gonzales and then, with a bloody knife in hand, chasing another person through the trailer park.
Deputies were called to Susan’s Place Trailer Park early Sunday and found Hilario Monterrossa, 24, dead inside his ex-girlfriend’s mobile home, Maj. Kevin Hanna said.
The stabbing occurred after Monterrossa called his ex-girlfriend, Maria Torres, saying he wanted to see their 7-month-old son, Hanna said.
But Torres said no and in the ensuing argument, Jesus Andrade Monterrossa, Torres’ current boyfriend, who is no relation to her ex-boyfriend, got on the phone and told Hilario Monterrossa to come over and settle their issues face to face.
Hilario Monterrossa had a cousin drive him to Torres’ mobile home at 40206 Coontrap Road, Hanna said.
When he arrived, Hilario Monterrossa began beating on the door of Torres’ mobile home in Lot 33 of the park until he forced his way inside, Hanna said. Once inside, he and Jesus Andrade Monterrossa began fighting.
During the fight and in front of the baby and Torres, Hilario Monterrossa suffered a fatal stab wound, Hanna said.
Jesus Andrade Monterrossa then turned to Hilario Monterrossa’s cousin, who was not identified, and chased him through the trailer park, knife in hand.
The accused attacker, Jesus Andrade Monterrossa, fled at first but turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Office on Sunday afternoon. He was booked on a count of second-degree murder and a count of attempted second-degree murder.
Deputies said both men were intoxicated at the time of the stabbing.
Deputies had enlisted the aid of the Gonzales Police Department to cordon off the area and a police dog search team from Elayn Hunt Correctional Center to help in the search, Hanna said.
