GRAMERCY — Temporary lane closures will affect traffic using the Interstate 10 bridge over Blind River and the Veterans Memorial Bridge over the Mississippi River while the two St. James Parish spans undergo inspections, state highway officials said.

The planned closures will require vehicles wider than 12 feet to detour around the inspection zones, officials with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said in news releases this week.

Closures of the outside lanes of Veterans Memorial Bridge over the Mississippi, which carries La. 3213 between Gramercy and Wallace, are Monday to Wednesday while closures of the outside lanes on I-10 at the Blind River bridge are Thursday, DOTD officials said.

The southbound lane of La. 3213 over the Veterans Memorial Bridge will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. The outside northbound lane will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, DOTD officials said.

The outside eastbound lane of the I-10 bridge at Blind River will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday. The outside westbound lane of the I-10 bridge will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., DOTD officials said.

Vehicles larger than 12 feet wide must detour from La. 3213 using La. 3127 to La. 70 then to La. 3125, or the reverse route, depending one whether the La. 3213/Veterans Memorial Bridge closure is northbound or southbound, DOTD officials said.

Vehicles larger than 12 feet wide on I-10 at Blind River must detour using La. 641 to U.S. 61, or the reverse route, depending on whether the I-10 closure is westbound or eastbound, DOTD officials said.
