GONZALES — Ascension Parish sheriff’s narcotics detectives arrested two men on cocaine and heroin dealing counts, finding a handgun and more than $4,000 in a home they searched after having it under surveillance for two months.
Jeffery Ricard Jr., 23, 14514 Oak Meadow St., Gonzales, and Quanmaine Scott, 20, 10196 Burnside St., Convent, were arrested Tuesday and each booked into Ascension Parish Prison near Donaldsonville on counts of heroin and cocaine distribution and possession with intent to distribute, along with illegal carrying of weapons, deputies said in a news release Thursday.
Ricard also was booked on counts of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Scott, an acquaintance of Ricard’s who was at his Oak Meadow home outside Gonzales when agents searched it Tuesday, was also booked with two counts of failure to appear in court, deputies said.
Agents found heroin, cocaine and marijuana in the home, deputies said.
Both men remained in jail late Thursday evening, the sheriff’s jail website says.
