DUTCHTOWN — The body of a possible hit and run victim was found about 1 p.m. Monday in the high grass of the Interstate 10 median in Ascension Parish, authorities said.
Crews cutting grass along I-10 found the body just north of the La. 74 overpass and south of the La. 73 interchange near Dutchtown while they were picking up debris before grass-cutting started, said Bobby Webre, Ascension Parish sheriff’s chief of criminal operations.
Signs reading “Mowing ahead” could be seen along I-10 northbound just south of the area where the body was found.
Webre said the body appears to have been in the grass for the last couple days.
“All indications are right now that it looks like a hit and run,” Webre said.
He said the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office is heading to the scene and Louisiana State Police will be handling the investigation.
