Two 18-year-old men were arrested Friday in the Jan. 13 home invasion on Old Perkins Place Avenue in Prairieville, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The homeowner told sheriff’s deputies she was leaving for work shortly after 7:30 a.m. when two men outside her house forced her back inside, a sheriff’s news release says.
The homeowner was struck in the face and forced to the floor while both men, both wearing bandanas and armed with handguns, searched the house, the release says.
Investigators later learned the home was specifically targeted by the assailants, and an undisclosed amount of drugs and cash was stolen from a safe in the home, the Sheriff’s Office said.
One of the assailants, Daryl Mitchell Jr., through his close relationship with the homeowner’s daughter, was aware of the location and contents in the safe, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Mitchell, 16082 Feliciana Ave., Prairieville, and Deiondre Brock, address not released, were booked into the parish jail Friday on aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and theft of a firearm, a sheriff’s news release says. Bond was not set as of Friday night.
A third person who entered the home has not yet been identified, the Sheriff’s Office said.
