An Ascension Parish grand jury indicted a Gonzales man Friday on one count of manslaughter in the July 6 fatal stabbing of his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend.

The 12-person grand jury handed up the indictment of Jesus Andrade Monterrossa, of 40206 Coontrap Road, Lot 33, Gonzales. Monterrossa turns 26 on Saturday.

Sheriff’s deputies have said Monterrossa stabbed the ex-boyfriend, Hillario Monterrossas, 24, during a fight inside the girlfriend’s home in the Susan’s Place Trailer Park early on July 6.

Jesus Monterrossa, with the bloodied knife in hand, then chased Hillario Monterrossas’ cousin through the trailer park, deputies said.

Grand jurors issued a no true bill on an attempted second-degree murder count in the chase of the cousin.

Deputies have said Jesus Monterrossa and Hillario Monterrossas are not related but both were intoxicated during the fight.

The fight started after Hillario Monterrossas had called his ex-girlfriend, Maria Torres, saying he wanted to see their 7-month-old son, deputies said.

Torres said no and, in the ensuing argument, Jesus Monterrossa got on the phone and told Hillario Monterrossas to come settle their issues face to face.

Hillario Monterrossas had his cousin drive him to Torres’ mobile home at 40206 Coontrap Road and the fight ensued, deputies said.

Jesus Monterrossa was arrested later the same day on single counts of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
