A Belle Rose woman was arrested Monday night after witnesses said she tried to run over a bar owner and another customer with her car after she was asked to leave, Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack said.

Trenell Lewis, 38, 164 Dupaty Lane, Belle Rose, was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on counts of aggravated battery, aggravated assault, hit-and-run and driving while intoxicated. Bail was set at $26,500, according to an Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies responded Monday night to a disturbance at the Alexis Sports Bar in the 6000 block of La. 308 in Paincourtville, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The owner of the bar told deputies there was a disturbance and he had escorted those responsible for it out of the bar and into the parking lot, including Lewis. Once outside, some of those who had been told to leave started to hit the owner, and one of them jumped on his back, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Lewis, however, got into her car, and witnesses said she drove it into the bar owner’s car, then she tried to run over him and another customer in the parking lot, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Lewis at her home.
