The Dutchtown High School Class of 1943 is holding a reunion at noon Saturday at the Grand Wall Restaurant in Gonzales.

The 70th reunion celebration will be attended by the surviving graduates and two teachers, organizers said.

Pageants fundraiser

Crowns will be handed out April 20 in the Heart Project II, a fundraiser for the Heart Association, and River Region Royalty III pageants.

Registration is underway for both pageants, organizer Pam Hughes said.

The pageants will be held at the Grand Pavilion on U.S. 61 in Gonzales.

Each contestant will receive a heart tiara.

Crime prevention session

Sgt. Joey Meyers, of the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, is set to talk to area seniors about crime prevention during an 11 a.m. Wednesday presentation at the Gonzales Senior Center, 536 Irma Blvd.

GOP Roundtable planned

Lionel Rainey III will be the featured speaker at the Ascension GOP Roundtable at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Brew-Bacher’s Grill, 909 E. Ascension St., Gonzales.

The roundtable is sponsored by Ascension Republican Women.

Rainey, of LR 3 Consulting, is set to talk about the U.S. Department of Justice’s suit against the state of Louisiana and a number of state agencies and officials alleging that Louisiana’s governmental agencies “were not registering recipients of state benefits to vote with sufficient vigor,” a news release from the ARW says.

Cost for the meal is $14.

Jambalaya benefit lunch

Jambalaya is on the menu Wednesday at a fundraiser for the Treasures of the Arc, 108 E. Ascension St., Gonzales.

The nonprofit resale shop, operated by Community Opportunities — The Arc of East Ascension, will be selling $5 jambalaya lunches from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. provided by the Jambalaya Festival Association.

Park concert set

Registration is underway for the Gospel in the Park concert May 4 in Jambalaya Park.

The concert is a benefit for the River Road African American Museum.

“The purpose of the event is to unite the local communities in a day of praise through song,” organizer Darryl Hambrick said.
