Sheriff: Paincourtville burglar leaves trail of food stolen from Family Dollar store _lowres

Kentrell McNeil was arrested April 7, 2015, on simple burglary by the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office.

A man who left a tell-tale trail of stolen food down the street after breaking into a Paincourtville Family Dollar store was arrested with the help of video surveillance and witnesses, Assumption Parish Mike Waguespack said.

At the time of his arrest, Kentrell McNeil, 38, of 6047 Crossover Road, Paincourtville, still had candy and hot dogs stolen during the break-in several days earlier, Waguespack said in a Sheriff’s Office report.

Deputies responding to a burglary alarm at the store about 3:30 a.m. on April 3 found a broken window at the store and food dropped along the street, the report says.

“In his efforts to get away, the bags broke, said Public Information Officer Robert Martin, and “left a trail (of food) down the street.”

McNeil was booked Tuesday into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on counts of simple burglary and possession of stolen things. His bail was set at $5,683.
