GONZALES — The Ascension Parish president’s state of emergency order issued Friday was lifted Wednesday because waterway levels following Tropical Storm Lee continued to drop, according a news release from parish government.
Ascension Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness personnel have continued to monitor river levels provided by the National Weather Service, Parish President Tommy Martinez said in the release.
He said water levels for the Amite River at Port Vincent have continued to drop after cresting Monday below flood stage. Sand and sandbags remain available at La. 431 and L. Keller Road in the Lake Martin area, officials said.
