GONZALES — Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested two alleged trespassers after finding a meth lab in the residence from which they had been evicted, Chief Deputy Tony Bacala reported Wednesday.
Deputies arrived at 43430 Jimmy Michael Road in Gonzales Tuesday to find Cole Gonzales and Leslea Hurst, both 28, at the residence they formerly occupied, Bacala said in a news release.
Both ran to their vehicle and drove away from the home, but deputies caught up with the pair in a yard just off Black Bayou Road, according to the news release.
Deputies found a meth lab and a sparkler bomb at the Jimmy Michael Road residence, Bacala said.
Gonzales and Hurst were booked with one count each of creation of a clandestine lab, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, flight from an officer and manufacturing or possession of a bomb.
Hurst also was booked with possession of Xanax.
Both were being held in the Ascension Parish Jail awaiting bond to be set, deputies said.
