Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies are looking for two men who investigators said tried to steal from a safe in a Smoothie King store along La. 73.

The men walked into the store in Dutchtown and placed an order about 8 p.m. Friday, Sheriff Jeff Wiley said Wednesday in a news release.

While one of the men got into an argument with an employee about the order’s cost, the other man went into the store’s office and tried to open a safe, Wiley said. There was a surveillance camera in the office.

Other employees saw the man leave the office and walk through the Dutchtown Primary School parking lot, where he got in the front passenger seat of a white sedan with chrome rims.

Deputies said the men were not able to open the safe or take anything.

The man who argued over the order with the Smoothie King employee was an older black man wearing a red, collared shirt. The man who investigators said tried to open the safe was wearing a purple ball cap and a purple-and-white, collared shirt.
