Assumption Parish sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting of a 19-year-old man between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday on Telegraph Street, the sheriff said Tuesday.

Quan R. Lewis, 19, showed up at Assumption Community Hospital’s emergency room in Napoleonville about 6 p.m. Monday with a gunshot wound in his chest, deputies said in a news release.

Sheriff Mike Waguespack said deputies have canvassed the area of the shooting in Napoleonville but have not been able to develop any leads.

He said deputies are waiting to talk with Lewis, 130 Jones St., Napoleonville, who was stabilized Monday and was taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for surgery.

Waguespack and his deputies are seeking help from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday in the Telegraph Street area.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s Criminal Investigative Division at (985) 526-1627 or the Communications Division at (985) 369-2912.
