A Gonzales man, Wade Pardue, 36, was arrested Monday, booked on failure to register as a sex offender, two months after being released from prison on the same offense, Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley said.

After getting a tip on the whereabouts of Pardue at about 4:30 p.m. Monday, sheriff’s deputies found him standing in front of a residence on Smith Road in Trailerland Subdivision, Wiley said in a news release.

Pardue ran when he saw deputies and was captured after a short chase, Wiley said.

In August 1999, Pardue was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and was placed on probation until April 2004, according to the report.

Twice after that, he failed to register as a sex offender, in January and May of 2011, and was arrested. Pardue was released from prison this past February.

He reported to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Division on Feb. 23 of this year to begin the proper registration as a sex offender, but didn’t return within 30 days to pay the required fees, the sheriff said.

On Monday, Pardue, of 1612 N.Coontrap Road, was booked into Ascension Parish Jail on counts of failure to register and notify as a sex offender and resisting an officer.

Pardue’s bail has been set at $100,294.
