A Gonzales couple were arrested Tuesday on various drug-related charges, including possession of methamphetamine and a variety of prescription drugs, said Ascension Parish sheriff’s Lt. Col. Bobby Webre.

Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents, with evidence that Lindsey Fontenot, 37, of 12122 Turry Road, Gonzales, was distributing Xanax from her house, got a search warrant for the home, Webre said in a release.

At the house was Fontenot’s husband, Jeffrey Fontenot, 36, and the couple’s two children, ages 13 and 7. A 16-year-old also was at the home but is not related to the family, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

In a search of the home, agents seized Xanax, clonazepam, methamphetamine, Suboxone and drug paraphernalia, Webre said.

The couple’s two children were released to a relative, and the unrelated teen was released to a parent.

Lindsey and Jeffrey Fontenot were booked into Ascension Parish Jail, each on a count of possession of methamphetamine, possession of Suboxone, possession of clonazepam, three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Lindsey Fontenot also was charged with distribution of Xanax and possession with intent to distribute clonazepam. Her bail has been set at $65,294.50.

Jeffrey Fontenot also was charged with possession with intent to distribute Xanax. His bail was set at $70,344.50.
