Two 17-year-old girls have been arrested in a brawl at the East Ascension High School graduation ceremony Wednesday night, police confirmed Friday.

Detective Sgt. Steven Nethken said that Destiney Latrell Thompson and Delencia Latrice Williams, addresses not available, were arrested over the fight and a third woman was being sought. He was unable to immediately provide more details.

Online records for the Ascension Parish Prison say Thompson and Williams were both booked with misdemeanor counts of simple battery and disturbing the peace late Thursday and early Friday. Bail information was not available Friday afternoon.

The fight started in the stands of Spartan Stadium near the end of the graduation ceremony as the school was also marking its 50th anniversary. The fight has drawn disapproval from school officials and Police Chief Sherman Jackson, who has promised to hold those responsible accountable.

Police have said the fight, which was caught on video and posted on Facebook, involved no graduates. They were on the stadium football field away from the stands.
