DONALDSONVILLE — Ascension Parish sheriff’s narcotics detectives arrested two men on cocaine and heroin dealing counts, seizing a handgun, a pit bull and more than $4,000 in a home they searched after a five-month investigation.
Shedrick Mumphrey, 28, 903 Martin Luther King Blvd., Donaldsonville, and Adonis Jarvis, 23, of 334 Tigerville Ave., Belle Rose, were arrested Thursday and booked into Ascension Parish Prison, deputies said in a news release.
While executing a warrant at Mumphrey’s house, deputies found the men in the final process of “cooking” cocaine into crack, the release says. Both men tried to run away but were arrested shortly after.
Jarvis and a detective were treated at a local hospital for injuries, authorities said.
Mumphrey was booked on counts of distribution of marijuana, distribution of cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer and inoculation tags required.
Jarvis was booked on counts of possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, illegal carrying of weapons, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, and resisting with force.
Both men remained in jail Thursday evening pending the setting of bail.
