GONZALES — A man who reportedly broke into a house shortly before 4 a.m. Monday was shot and injured by the homeowner, according to a Gonzales Police Department report.
The name of the man shot was not provided by the Police Department. The man was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for surgery and is expected to recover, police said in a news release.
The incident happened at 722 Hamilton St., where the homeowner and several others were during the time of the break-in.
Late Monday afternoon, the Police Department said an investigation remains underway and multiple counts, which were not named, have been brought against several people in the home, as well as the man who was shot.
