BAYOU L’OURSE — A man reported missing earlier this month turned up in Kentucky rather than in any of the south Louisiana fishing spots he had said he was considering for a weekend trip, the Assumption Parish sheriff said Wednesday.

Jason Greenfield 34, 228 Jamie Court, Bayou L’Ourse, was located in Pine Knot, Ky., alive and well after detectives checked bank transactions and cellphone data, Sheriff Mike Waguespack said.

Detectives initially were told by Greenfield’s wife, neighbors and employer that he was supposed to have been going camping and fishing somewhere in the Port Fourchon, Cocodrie, Venice or Grand Isle areas, but had not been heard from, deputies said in a news release.

Waguespack said parish, Louisiana, Kentucky and federal agencies assisted in finding Greenfield.
